What is Skinlite Cream?

Skinlite cream is a topical skin-lightening cream manufactured by Zydus. It contains three active ingredients: hydroquinone, tretinoin, and mometasone furoate. These work together on uneven skin tone and pigmentation. It targets discolouration at the surface and below it. The cream is applied directly to the affected area.

What is Skinlite Cream Used For?

Skinlite cream is used for skin conditions caused by excess melanin production. These include melasma, dark spots, hyperpigmentation, and brown patches caused by sun exposure or tanning. It is also used for post-inflammatory discolouration that appears after acne or skin injury. Many patients use it for uneven skin tone that does not respond to basic skincare alone.

How Does Skinlite Cream Work?

Each of the three active ingredients does a specific job. Hydroquinone reduces melanin production by blocking the enzyme that triggers pigment formation. Tretinoin speeds up skin cell turnover, helping darkened cells shed faster. Mometasone furoate is a mild corticosteroid. It reduces inflammation and redness at the site. Together they lighten discolouration and even out skin tone over time.

In What Strengths Is It Available?

Skinlite cream contains hydroquinone 2%, tretinoin 0.025%, and mometasone furoate 0.1% in a single preparation. These concentrations are fixed by the manufacturer. Do not apply more than the recommended amount expecting a faster result.

How to Use Skinlite Cream

1. Wash the affected area gently with a mild cleanser before applying. 
2. Pat the skin dry with a soft towel.
3. Do not rub. Wait at least 20 minutes for the skin to dry completely.
4. Apply a thin layer of Skinlite cream only to the darkened or affected area. 

Avoid spreading it over healthy surrounding skin. Use it once daily, preferably at night.

If you have to go outside the next day, wait for the skin to dry and apply a good sunscreen with high SPF. This keeps the cream working effectively.

If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next application, skip the missed one. Do not double the amount to make up for a missed application.

What Are the Side Effects?

Side effects are generally mild and related to the skin. Some people experience redness or irritation in the first week of use. This usually settles as the skin adjusts.

Common side effects:

• Mild redness or stinging after application
• Skin dryness or peeling at the application site
• Itching or a warm sensation on the skin
• Temporary increase in skin sensitivity to sunlight

If severe burning or blistering occurs, stop using the cream and speak to a doctor.

• Some skin peeling in the first few days is normal. That is the tretinoin working. 
• Do not stop applying because of early dryness. 
• Keep the application thin and consistent.

Who Should Not Use Skinlite Cream?

Skinlite cream is not suitable for everyone. Pregnant women should not use this product. Tretinoin and hydroquinone carry risk during pregnancy. Women who are breastfeeding should also avoid applying it, especially near the chest area.

Do not apply it near the eyes, mouth, or open wounds. People with a known allergy to any of the three active ingredients should not use this cream. Children should not use it without clear medical instruction.

Store the tube in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Heat and light can break down the tretinoin and reduce how well it works. Keep the cap tightly closed after each use.
