What is Tenvir EM Tablet?

Tenvir EM tablet is an antiretroviral medication made by Cipla Pharma in India. It contains two active ingredients: Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate 300 mg and Emtricitabine 200 mg. Both belong to the nucleotide reverse transcriptase inhibitor drug class. Each tablet packs both compounds into a single dose.

What is it Used For?

Tenvir EM tablet is used for two main purposes. First, it is used as part of combination HIV treatment in adults who are HIV-positive. Second, it is used for PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis). To reduce the risk of HIV infection in people who do not have HIV but are at high risk. It covers both conditions in one tablet. A qualified doctor should assess which use applies to you before starting.

How Does it Work?

Tenofovir Disoproxil Fumarate and Emtricitabine both block reverse transcriptase. Reverse transcriptase is an enzyme HIV uses to copy its genetic material inside the body's cells. When this enzyme is blocked, the virus cannot replicate itself. The viral load stays lower as a result. This does not cure HIV, but it keeps the infection under control.

How to Take Tenvir EM tablet?

The dose is one tablet taken once daily. Most patients ask whether food affects how it is absorbed. Take it at the same time each day to keep levels steady in your body.

If you miss a dose, do not double up when you remember. Skip it if the next dose is close. Never take two tablets at once to make up for a missed one. Follow your doctor's instructions on timing and duration throughout your course.
